Rajasthan NEET PG Counselling Confusion: Over 100 Seats Empty, Applicants Consider Seeking an Action

The NEET PG 2024 counselling process has plunged into utter chaos in Rajasthan, leaving over 100 medical postgraduate seats vacant and thousands of helpless aspirants frustrated. Outrage among the applicants, with a growing number of them hinting at approaching the courts against the authorities amidst charges of mismanagement and lack of transparency.

So What Went Wrong?

The NEET-PG counselling chaos in Rajasthan has come from various reasons:

  • Lack of clarity in Seat Allotment: Multiple students have complained about the seat allocation, wherein many candidates were neither allotted seats nor turned out according to their choices, even though they had valid rankings, while others were left vacant.
  • Technical Problems: Throughout the registration for choice filling, technical problems were faced by many students, in order to gain their desired seat.
  • Last-Minute Rules Changes: Rule changes confused the candidates and made them doubtful about the status of their admission.
  • Mismanagement by Authorities: The Rajasthan Medical Education Department and the counselling committee’s lack of proper communication added to the frustration. Candidates struggled to get clear responses regarding their concerns.
Students Are Furious and Ready to Sue

Though over 100 seats remain vacant, thousands have secured admission, and students have robustly questioned the fairness of the whole process itself. Many candidates are now considering legal settlements to demand-

  • A re-counselling process to ensure fair seat allotment.
  • Proper guidelines through well-explained and clear allocations.
  • An investigation into the seat vacancy and possible mismanagement.

It is suggested by legal experts that the aggrieved candidates could approach the Rajasthan High Court and contend upon irreducible irregularities, which could jeopardize their valuable future and waste precious seats in urgent medical specialities.

Influence on Medical Education and Care

The healthcare system in Rajasthan is severely hampered by open positions, particularly in government and semi-government medical schools that depend on postgraduate residents for clinical rotations. The state is already staring at a shortfall of specialized doctors, and therefore unfilled seats in important disciplines will put pressure on the system.

What Comes Next?

Medical associations and student groups are requesting the state and the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to take appropriate action:

Including the following:-

  • An immediate fix for allocation mistakes.
  • Need extra counselling rounds to fill the unfilled seats.
  • Make future counselling procedures more accountable and transparent.

As this dispute grows, medical professionals are searching for a method for ensuring merit-based seating. In the next weeks, it will become clear whether authorities take action to fix it or if the matter degenerates into legal disputes and extended uncertainty.
