Maharashtra postgraduate medical education (NEET PG) aspirants have entered a state of uncertainty due to the delay of NEET PG counselling Round 3. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) announced that the process of the stray vacancy round for All India Quota (AIQ) will be initiated soon, but aspirants from Maharashtra continue to await how things will materialize for them anxiously.
Postponement of Maharashtra NEET PG Round 3 Counselling
The Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling Round 3 selection list, which was to be released on February 6, has been postponed indefinitely. The reason for the delay is the pending updated list of in-service candidates, which the authorities have not yet completed. Due to this, 75 affected aspirants have knocked on the door of the Supreme Court, seeking a fair opportunity in the postgraduate medical admission process.
MCC’s Directives and AIQ Stray Vacancy Round
In the meantime, the MCC has directed all state counselling bodies to provide information on joined candidates by February 11. The directive is meant to eliminate candidates who have already been allotted seats before going ahead with the AIQ stray vacancy round. The action has contributed to the confusion for Maharashtra aspirants, who are yet to get clarification on their counselling process.
Revised Eligibility Criteria Adds to Confusion
Adding to the mystery, on 12 February, the CET Cell revised the eligibility criteria for the candidates who wish to appear in the AIQ stray vacancy round. Under the new rules:
- Candidates who did not take their MCC Round 3 allocated seats are not eligible for the AIQ stray vacancy round.
- However, candidates who did not report for MCC Round 3 can appear in Maharashtra state counselling.
This last-minute change in requirements has frustrated a large number of aspirants since they are now forced to review their choices based on these new requirements.
Uncertainty Remains among NEET PG Candidates
With the third round of Maharashtra NEET PG counselling still in limbo, aspirants continue to face immense pressure and stress. Many are worried about the impact on their future prospects, as delays in admissions can lead to a loss of academic time and professional opportunities.
As students await further updates, they remain hopeful that the counselling authorities will take appropriate action to resolve these issues and provide them with a fair and transparent admission process.
