How to Prepare Like a Winner for NEET PG, INICET & FMGE Exam Preparation

How to Prepare Like a Winner for NEET PG, INICET & FMGE Exam Preparation?

Hi friend, this is Dr. Apurv Mehra. And this is Dr. Gobind Rai Garg. So we are back with the MIB series.

[Dr. Apurv Mehra] So sir, there are certain questions that Goga Bhai (Gobind sir), that students have. There is a lot of anxiety and concerns that we have.  How to control anxiety?

Don’t feel like studying they get anxious.

[Dr. Gobind Rai Garg] Having anxiety is a very normal thing and it should be there, but it should not be too much. Then how will you manage anxiety? I think you are the best person to answer that.

[Dr. Apurv Mehra] This is called hitting a return shot. Question, to the one who asked, like if a quiz master asked a question, you tell him you only tell the answer. Goga Bhai has just reversed the role. Look, I feel that if it is about anxiety, there are two major causes of anxiety in this world. Number one is what other people own. What the other person is doing or what he has? It doesn’t make a difference in your life what the other person is doing and what he owns.

For example, if you go to Facebook, you go to Insta, you will feel you are not doing anything in life. Number one cause, you compare with everybody. That’s anxiety.

Second, what will happen to me? Right, what will happen to me after six months? Brother, you don’t know what will happen tomorrow, Morning? Why are you thinking of after six months? Think like that if you don’t study today, you won’t be selected 6 months later. So, stop procrastination. Stop ruling yourself out.

You can decrease your anxiety by two things. By stop looking at what other people are doing and focus on yourself!

Alright, and the second is that stop procrastination when you are out. In fact, if you do not work today, the anxiety is going to multiply. So, this is what according to me. Goga bhai, what do you feel?

[Dr. Gobind Rai Garg] Basically, just like Doctor Apurv told me, the same thing I am gonna tell you in a different version, in life we watch others only. If we go to a market, assume a couple goes to the market, so the wife watches other people’s dresses, what they are wearing, and their suits and the husband is watching somebody else’s wife. So, we keep on looking to others only.

So, it is important what we have. We should focus on that only. That is more important.

[Dr. Apurv Mehra] Right, so that is one way to control your anxiety. The Second point is that the students kept on asking me how to maintain consistency. You are preparing, right? And it is a beautiful saying that with “a commitment” you start. But it is the consistency that gets you complete and achieve in life.

So how to maintain consistency?

[Dr. Gobind Rai Garg] So this question I was answering, I think I posted some video long ago, on how to maintain consistency.  So, chemistry people start to answer how concentrated it is. How much dilute it is? So, it is not about that consistency.

Consistency means you should continue studying throughout the year till you have targeted. So, to maintain consistency, I will say that you should have a proper plan. If you have a plan for what you must do, only then you can be consistent.

So, first, you should have a focus that you have to go till there. And for that daily you have this plan. How many questions you will be solving daily and how many topics or which topics you will be doing that day.

And, how you will revise that day. So, if you have that plan on a day-to-day basis, then maintaining consistency will be much easier. There are two things, one you should have a proper plan.

So, sit a night before and plan, what you have to do the next day. If you are planning, then most likely you will be able to finish that. The second important thing is that don’t underestimate the breaks.

So, most of the time why? Students can’t be consistent, because they start studying with enthusiasm and then in 10 days, 15 days, 20 days, after studying continuously. Then their mind breaks down.

Obviously, the mind has the capacity, it breaks down. Then it takes a break, he says I will take it of 15 days. Then you don’t feel like studying for 15 days.

I always tell everyone not to give your mind a chance to have a break, you give it a scheduled break. Unscheduled breaks are more harmful. Once in a week you can keep, for example, if you have an exam after 6 months or later, you can keep one whole day as a break.

Take a break for the whole day, do things you like, feel like going to a movie, want to go play cricket, anything you want to do, do it. Don’t think about your studies that day. And if you are near the exam, like two months, three months, make it half a day every week. That is very important you take scheduled breaks, rather than letting your mind take a break. When the brain takes a break , that will be for a very long duration.

[Dr. Apurv Mehra] Sir has summarized that in a day, plan out when to read when to revise , and when to do the questions. So, if you’re planning a day before, then you will be able to maintain consistency. So don’t try to win it over a long time, try to win it over a short time. And that too, he says, schedule your breaks. So that when you know this is a break day, you will always study more till the time you reach there. And after that you will automatically feel the pressure to study more. So that’s a beautiful thing that he conveyed.

Sir, consistency is showing up every day, and studying every day. Focus is the output. So how to improve your focus?

[Dr. Gobind Rai Garg] So the important thing to improve your focus is, you should have a proper dream.

I want to do this. Whenever you go out of focus, immediately think about why you have started. A thing commonly said, if you ever feel like you want to leave, you must think about how far you have come and why you came.

If you have come this far, turn and have a look behind how at far you have come. You will understand the way you have to go further. But the important thing is, you should not panic.

Bad days comes in everyone’s life, everyone’s preparation. Bad days will come. They will come many times.

Two days, three days, you will have a problem back at home, you will go sick, something or other will come in between, you should not get disheartened by that. So, whenever you feel that two days or three days get wasted. No issues, you still got a lot of time.

The important thing is, if you don’t feel like studying a whole day, try to study at least half an hour, one hour, but don’t lose your momentum. So just keep on continuing little bit, little bit. So, then you can improve your focus.

If you have a dream that you want to do, and you have a proper plan, then you can definitely do it better.

[Dr. Apurv Mehra] Right, so Anxiety, we can reduce. Consistency, with a plan we can maintain. Focus is improved with a dream in your eyes. One last question.

[Dr. Gobind Rai Garg] I will come back to focus again. It is commonly said if you can’t focus even after drinking alcohol, it means the peg is not properly made.

[Dr. Apurv Mehra] And the last thing. So, Not made properly.

You have attempted INICT, and you didn’t do good. You have not got a result. (The last question that is harbouring around everybody’s head right now is can I still crack a great rank in NEET?

[Dr. Gobind Rai Garg] 100%. In this, I won’t even say 99%. Because you still have around 2-3 months and 2-3 months are a long enough period to crack any entrance exam if you have consistently studied a little bit earlier. But if you don’t study, if you already decide you won’t be able to make it, I can give you in writing 100% you won’t be able to make it.

And if you focus till you have enough time, if you concentrate, you have a very high chances that you will get a desired rank in the NEET page.

[Dr. Apurv Mehra] In my career what I have seen, I have seen people clearing and topping entrance exams after supply. I see this every year.

I have seen people clearing entrance exams after heartbreaks. I see this every year. I have seen people clearing in 2nd, 3rd, 4th attempt. I see this every year. I have seen people having diseases and conquering them. I see this every year. I have seen people doing this despite of family losses. I see this every year. And I have seen two people who will never be selected. They both have this feature in them. First, those who don’t believe in themselves, second who don’t want to do hard work. I see this every year.

So, if you have belief and you are ready to work hard, there is nothing that can stop you. Nobody is powerful enough to stop your selection. But the important thing is, you must be true to yourself.

Yes, I worked hard. No. 2, you must believe that you are doing it.

This is what makes all the difference between yes and no. Lesser your Anxiety, go out somewhere to roam around. Focus on the things you have.

So, focus on your wife. Because that’s what is going to get you your dreams. Do it consistently every day. Say I love you to her. And finally, work hard and have a belief that you will make a fantastic home. So, that is what you should do if you summarize.

Or obviously, if you have gone to a party and then also you are not getting influenced, as he just said, the peg was not made properly, so focus on that. This is what you should remember.

[Dr. Gobind Rai Garg] So, basically, one thing Dr. Apurv forgot to mention, in INICT many students don’t get a good exam rank.

And in NEET PG they get a very good rank. I see this every year.

[Dr. Apurv Mehra] That is very important, and he will keep on seeing it because I am sure that even heart aches on saying it. But even after getting defeated earlier by South Africa and India, Australia defeated them to win the finals, heart aches. So, you must understand this thing, it’s never over till it is.

[Dr. Gobind Rai Garg] I will again reiterate that in the World Cup finals, the major reason why Australia won was because they believed that they could win. They had that belief in them that they would win. And they won.

[Dr. Gobind Rai Garg] So, you must also have that belief.

 Thank you very much.
