Let me tell you that average students do best not just in their professional careers, but in all spheres of their lives. So friends, trust me, what I’ve seen in my 20 years of teaching experience, if you are a topper, actually, you don’t need any help from outside, maybe a bit of guidance to achieve even a better result. However, the majority of medical students are average students.
And average students what I’ve seen, they have a desire to prove something to others. So they always work harder beyond their capabilities and end up surprising themselves also. So you, the average student, don’t worry.
Let me sit with you and let us try to make a plan which can make an average student a topper. Friends, you have to target even if you are an average student, both NEET PG as well as INICET exams. So let us see how we can crack it.
For an average student, the most important is to follow a structured schedule. So what I will recommend, trust the faculty of Cerebellum, and trust the platform Cerebellum, it is for the students by the teachers and follow the structured schedule of Cerebellum. So whether you are going through the main videos, or you’re going through the live mission videos, what I will suggest, number one, try to make your own handwritten notes, it will lead to a better understanding of concepts, a long-lasting solid memory, and a better recall in the examinations.
If that is not possible, you always have the option of availability of pre-printed notes, you can go for full notes, or you can even go for mission workbooks, where a proportion of the total content is written and the rest you have to write. So notes are quite important for you.
Number two, you have to attend all the revision sessions of Cerebellum, which have been kept in a very structured manner in the app.
So attend those live examinations and discussions, and attend all the live marathon sessions.
Number three, you have to start practising questions from Qbank on a daily basis or through a custom module. Initially, you should start being an average student with 20 to 30 MCQs a day, but slowly and slowly, gradually scale it up to 50 questions a day, 7500 questions a day, around two months before the exam, you should have touched 200 to 250 questions a day practice.
Number four, you have to attend all the late-night PYQ sessions and midday module sessions, there is no shortcut to that. Number five, do not miss even a single grand test. See, initially, even if your score is coming low in the grand test doesn’t matter.
The best tip I can give you when you attempt a grand test is to analyze it on the same day. For any question that went wrong and why it went wrong, convert it to a single-liner and add it to your notes. Also, add any new information you get from the grand test to your notes. You will also have to get all the mock tests.
Now some general tips, whenever you are going through a revision session like E&D, marathon session, or any theoretical revision class, whether you are going through the quick revision videos in the app, or you are going through a grand test or a mock test, whenever any extra information you get, write it as a one-liner in the app notes itself that you have created. Also, you can do one more thing, you can keep on pasting stick ones by writing the important content on that.
If required, you can add pages also to your notes. This will become your go-to book, the Bible for multiple revisions before the exam. As an average student, you must realize multiple revisions are key to success because our course is quite vast.
The second important thing, make some daily targets which are achievable. If you feel you can study for 6 to 7 hours, don’t try to make it 11 to 12 hours initially. So small daily targets, how much time, how much course you are going to cover.
If something is left, don’t worry, slowly and slowly speed will build up. Also make weekly, and monthly targets and prepare a complete plan till the final examination.
Tip number three, do not fall into any FOMO.
Many of your friends will keep telling you, “I am doing this, I am doing that.” Trust yourself, trust Cerebellum, and trust the faculty of Cerebellum. Many of us, including me, Dr. Gobind Rai Garg, Dr. Apurv Mehra, and Dr. Praveen, have 20+ years of solid teaching experience.
So trust us, we will not let you down.
Tip number four, revise, revise, revise, and follow the structured revision schedule of the cerebellum. You are not going to falter.
Trust me, if you follow all these points and what I’ve told you in the last few minutes, you are going to rock. You are going to surprise yourself with the result, and you are going to achieve a super relative result and a dream branch of your choice. I can tell you this with so much confidence, friends, because I am also just an average student like you. Right from day one of MBBS, I was an average student.
Currently also I am an average student. And I know throughout my life, I will remain an average student. Trust me, average students do best.
All the best.
